Introducing my delicious autumn 🍂 pear compote, a warm and comforting treat that will surely tantalize your taste buds! What makes this compote extra special is that the pears were harvested from my very own garden during our end-of-summer, early autumn harvest.

1. Begin by washing and peeling the pears, but don’t discard the skins just yet! We’ll be using them to enhance the flavour of our compote.

2. Cut the pears into small, bite-sized pieces and place them in a large saucepan.

3. Take a few cloves, a pinch of allspice, and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and add them to the saucepan with the pears.

4. Now, here’s the secret ingredient: add the pear skins to the mixture. They will infuse the compote with a delightful aroma and taste.

5. Place the saucepan over low heat and let the ingredients simmer gently. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

6. Allow the compote to cook until the pears are soft and tender, and the flavours have melded together beautifully. This may take around 20-30 minutes.

7. Once the compote has cooled down, transfer it into sterilized jars, ready to be enjoyed throughout the autumn season.

8. When serving, don’t forget to add a generous dollop of clotted cream on top. The creamy richness perfectly complements the warm and fragrant compote.
